Student Workers
Job Description
The student workers in the athletic training room fulfill a variety of responsibilities. The student workers responsibilities are affiliated with work study and campus work through the financial aid office. They do not function in the capacity of athletic training students, therefore they are not to make injury assessments and return to play decisions when providing medical coverage for a practice or an away event. Decisions on injury assessment and return to play are to be made by the head coach when a certified athletic trainer is not available. Those that are certified in First Aid and CPR are first responders and will assist in medical coverage for practices and events. Their responsibilities are limited to assisting and/or providing basic first aid, CPR, and activate the emergency medical system. Other duties include prophylactic taping for ankles, wrist, fingers, and thumb; event and practice set-up; cleaning of the athletic training room, filing of medical documents, and other administrative tasks.
